Le Creuset is famous for coating its heavy, cast-iron cookware with not just one, but two--count 'em, two--layers of enamel baked on at 1,450 degrees F, resulting in gloriously bright colors. This bright-red, heart-shaped casserole adds a note of whimsy to dishes, but its 2-quart capacity, handles, and heavy-duty construction make it practical as well. Both its interior and exterior are enameled--as are the bottoms of all Le Creuset pots and pans--to prevent scratching glass-topped stoves. The enamel surface will not react with any acidic foods and is easy to clean. The weight and nature of cast iron make for even heat distribution. Review of Le Creuset Red Heart Casserole Pan
I purchased this for my niece's wedding, and I have not given it to her yet. I have not seen the item myslef since I had it shipped to my mother's house, but I know from seeing them in the stores that it is a high quality product. Arrived in fine condition. Haven't used this particular piece yet, but love this manufacturer's products. Everyone should own at least one piece of Le Creuset. Wish they weren't so pricey though. Peace. ~~~mary
